Angry 350 miles old and scratched

With just 350 miles on the clock I now have a nice six inch horizontal scratch above the drivers side front wheel arch. Arse.

Looks like a natural scratch so not a vandal, like it was a tree or something but it's on the drivers side Perhaps it was an armoured bug?

The scratch seems to have gone through however many layers of paint there are. Is this sort of thing easy/cheap to repair? Anyone care to recommend (or not) some sort of armourfend style treatment?

Arse.

Im very anal about these things. I've noticed scratches hear and there on mine (3K miles). It sucks that these things have to happen. I bought some products from Zaino bros . Ive heard good things about them. They have a scratch removal polish.

Try Meguires. (spelling?)

I used their scratch remover on my black car, and it actually worked. Follow up with their polish, and it looks great. Search the forums. Someone recently posted a very similar incident. Maybe this should be in FAQ's?

If the scratch has penetrated the clear coat and went into the actual paint it is usually a job for a professional body shop. If the scratch has not penetrated the clear coat it can often be polished out with a product such as Meguires Clear Coat Scratch Remover. Just be careful when polishing out a clear coat scratch that you don't use too much pressure or go to deep and take the clear coat off.

I had 1000 miles on the car, and 3 dents. 2800 miles on the car now, 4 dents. 1 is my fault and the other 3 were all door dings... damn it

well have I got a story for you guys..
grab a beer and pull up a chair.

One night bunch of us guys (some friends and I) went dow to a airfeild by where a friend of mine lives. His friends mom owns it and people are vandilizing the property so she told us to hang out there and try to catch the people doing it..

Well to get there you have to go down some very narrow trails off road (its the back way when the gates are locked) and then down some gravle trails..

We were all hanging out when we seen headlights comeing from the trail, it was a jeep and no one had called these people. They came down where we were then turned around and started to leave.. I hoped into my car and a friend hoped into the pass. seat and we started chasing them.. flying down the gravle trail right on the jeeps ass.. They were not going to fast but they also thought a car would never catch them..

Finaly we came to the main road and found out it was some friends and they were like ***, how you catch up like that.. I just grined turned around and headed back towads the air strip..

flying down the gravle paths punch it on turns and sliding the back end around turns that had like 20 ft down hill drop offs was damn fun..

We got back to the strip and I looked at my car and there was like no silver all dust. That pissed me off my car was damn dusty. Then I noticed a ding in the fender and took a lighter to see it. When I did this it showd me the scrathes going all the way down the driver side. I went to the passenger side and sure enough there was scratches down that side to.. I was pissed my buzz had now warn off and I was upset..

On the way home I stoped at a brushless car was to get the car washed so I could inspect the scratches more carefully. (btw if you remove the hood scoop cover and mount a filer to the TB, do not go through a car wash. we filters do not let air though)

I noticed they were only clear coat scratches and that made me a little more easy on the stomach, but then realizing I had to drive the next 5 miles home with no filter made me sick again..

Next day I went to work after drying the filter and putting it back on.

A guy at worked took a buffer and buffed out the scratches and reminded me of the ding in the fender. I poped the hood and oushed out on the fender and it poped back out..

There is only small dim about of marks left in the paint that I am going to try to buff out..

Moral of the story is if you want to have a nice clean and scrath free car do not rally on trails.. This is the last time I am off roading like that again..

Well guys thats my story sorry to bore ya but I thought you guys might like it..
