Default Calling all Aspen White WRXs

I am going to be buying an '06 WRX in the next few days and I am really wanting to get an Aspen White one. The dealer told me that one of the other sales guys ordered one 12 weeks ago and doesn't expect it to get here before the end of the year.

He said that usually, Subaru gets out ordered cars in a matter of a few weeks. I am considering a different color so that i don't have to wait so long but I really want white.

Did anyone else have trouble of hear of trouble in getting Aspen White?

Unless you absolutely NEED the car now, wait for the color you want. I know so many people who did exactly what you're thinking of doing (picking a second, less-desirable color) and completely regretted it. What's a month or two in the long scheme of things when in the end, you'll be getting exactly what you ordered.

When I got my aspen white 04 the dealer had to pick it up from another dealer about 70 miles away. I would however suggest against getting a white one. Subaru paint isn't that great and with white, it's gonna be a nightmare keeping her beautiful. I have had little dots of rust since about 6 months after owning it..any rockchips/etc are super visible and if you dont wash it every couple of days the dirt glows on it.
Btw...I didn't want white...the ex wife made me get it...now shes an ex

Dots of rust? Are they at the spot of the stone chips or are they just showing up in random spots in the paint? This happened on my silver car. Clay bars will take those rust spots out of the paint.

White isnt too bad to keep looking nice. Sure it gets dirty quick but not the same as black. It becomes a more uniform grey the dirtier it gets. As for stone chips, they do show up but the primer is light grey so they are not as noticable as some of the other colors available.
I didnt want white when I bought the car, now, I'd only consider black as an alternate to white. The white is really nice, plus I only saw 1 other WRX in white in the 2 years I owned the car.

I agree with Volkl23. I wanted white and had a 2 month wait. I got what I
wanted and didn't compromise. I'm happy I didn't just buy something on the lot
which meant that it hadn't been test driven. Only had 3 miles on the odo. It also
gave me time to save more for the down payment and get the garage cleaned
out so I could park it inside.

It's your money. If you can wait, get what you really want.

I don't mind waiting a few months, but the idea of the guy at the dealership having to wait for what might be six months is just crazy. I'll talk to the dealership tonight and find out what my options are. Maybe this guy ordered some odd combo or something.

or maybe they want you to pick something off the lot, rather than ordering a car from someplace.

Well the only cars they have on the lot are the new color steel gray wagon which I test drove and a WRB TR. I told the guy I hate the new color and would not buy it. Oh they also have a black wagon with the limited package and a slushbox

I have both on my white STi. I'm sure claybar will remove the flecks of rust in the paint with no problem, although I'm highly annoyed they are there in the first place. They look like they are simply impurities in the paint left over from a poor quality paint job.

The stone chips are a different story. I've seen sneezes that left a thicker coat on things than the paint/primer on my STi.

I have two rock chips that chipped about a 1/8" diameter hole in the white, followed by a 1/16" diameter chip in the gray primer underneath, followed by a nice spot of rust right in the center.

I have another chip on the driver's side fender that isn't rusted yet, but probably will soon.

BTW, I don't believe any of this is unique to the white. Some things are just more visible in the white. I know I can stand to let mine go dirty a lot longer than a coworkers black STi. If his doesn't get washed about every 5 days, it looks like crap. Mine stays fairly clean looking until I drive through a mud puddle and it splashes red clay up on the fenders.

Another thing to keep in mind....white is much cooler in the summer if you live in a warmer climate. A black car just sucks in the scalding sun.

I live in Buffalo so my concern is being able to find a white car in a parking lot during January

I have heard about Suby's notoriously thin paint before. That kind of bothers me as I seem to be a magnet to paint chips. My current daily driver is a schmorgus board of chipped paint with less than 30,000 miles.

The clear film to prevent rock chips might be a good investment.

my 2 cents

a good dealer will order it for you exactly the way you want it and receive it in the next or following monthly allotment. i had mine the next month and don't remember having to put a deposit or even sign a sales invoice.

putting a good coat of wax on it will keep it looking good. i use klasse all-in-one, it also removes oxidations/stains so you don't need a separate polish. rain beads right off so no water spots, when the wax is relatively fresh you can just hose off all the dirt & don't need to use soap. the klasse lasts a good 3-4 months also.

i have a clear bra on the front but it's slightly yellow now... might be from not washing often enough... only noticeable in bright sunlight though.

I bought my '06 WRX Ltd in Aspen White on October 1. I called my dealer and told him I wanted Aspen White with the Desert Beige interior 2 days prior. They located one in a matter of hours and got it in the next day. The day after, I came in and filled out the paperwork and drove off.

I keep hearing the Aspen White is hard to get. Maybe I was lucky?

If you want Aspen White, be patient and get it. Have a few dealers try to find you one. If you order one, it shouldn't take more than 2 months depending on what time of month you place the order.

I talked to the dealer about and hour ago and he asked if I made up my mind as to what I wanted. I said I wanted an Aspen White sedan and he told me that it would be almost impossible to get. That makes no sense to me at all. He is currently checking around and is supposed to call me back.

He said that the guy that works there who ordered a white one checked along the whole east coast out to Chicago and couldn't find one. Its almost like they don't want to sell me a car.

He's pulling your chain and hoping you would "give up" on waiting for your car and buy one they can instantly make a quck buck on. How many dealers have you called? When I bought my STi, I went to 5 different dealers before I bought mine. Just call around.

Someone posted numbers here once about how many colors are made each year, white and red are on the lower end of the color choices, so I guess they are "rarer", but if they want to sell you the car, they should be able to find one.

Im picking up my 06 Aspen white STI tommorow, it came down between blue and white.
The Lexus we have is white, and while it gets dirty quick it always looks great and goes much longer without a wash than say my brother's silver 02 WRX. My father has a long beach blue pearl NSX, which is probably the most beautiful paint I have ever seen (second to the marble blue of a F360 stradale), it is slightly slightly slightly similar to WRB and man is it a pain in the arse - as a daily driver, I would prefer the lower maintenence color(although that is arguable as to the "maintenenceness" of the car)
White is also very clean, shows the lines, and goes great with bronze/carbon fiber/etc
Wait for that white, you wont regret it!
On another note, there are several(3-4) WRX limiteds/regulars(no TRs) that are white over here in NJ

I had to wait for a white one that had what I wanted (no sunroof) but it came quick and I haven't looked back. some say the white isn't great paint and it may not be but I haven't had any problems, love the color and it doesn't get dull just keep it clean and waxed. the black is ded sexy though, just couldn't deal with keeping it clean (having had a black car in the past) good luck and wait for what you want its alot of money to spend to do things hastily.

he's probably trying to sell you something in stock.

A factory order usually takes about 2-3 months. I'm not sure how many WRXs Subaru builds in a month, but if the order was placed this month for the following production month, the car will be built by the end of next month (Dec) and you should have it by January.

I'm surprised the dealership can't locate one for you, unless you're looking for something extremely rare. I work for a Nissan/Subaru dealership in MA. I'll see if I can jump on the locator and find one, as my dealership has swapped in a few cars from the Buffalo area.

Well I talked to the dealer again tonight, the white regular WRX that was ordered by the other salesman is not being taken by him anymore. He needed a car desperately so he just got a Legacy GT from stock. So this one is lined up for me. Apparently the car was ordered on Sept 20th so that would seem to fall in line with the 2-3 month waits people are talking about. It would be great if I could get it around Christmas. A nice little gift for myself.

i went into the dealer wanting a black one, and there was only one rex on the lot, and it was white, wasnt too interested till i looked at it, and i love it! and like someone said before, you dont see alot of the white, which is great! alot more rare than my 03 in wrb

id say wait it out, and save some extra money, for the downpayment, or for keeping your fix for mods going, cuz its an addiction, im broke

Default my white wrx

I love my white wrx, I had a silver one, and it was a pain to keep clean, and to wash for that matter..

Residue would show up if I didn't dry it just right, but as far as my white wrx, just perfect. Regardless of how fast it drys or if the rag was dry, or semi wet.. Just perfect, and white is gorgous at night. Definetly wait for the white one.
