Cool cool. I have a few inverters just none strong enough to run the good impact gun on 110v. I have another inverter that I've been meaning to connect up which I will do this Friday. By the way anyone who is off on Friday and wants to come down to the shop for any final preps on their car we'll be there noonish on Friday getting the Armada packed and ready so feel free to drop by.

Thanks to my favorite mechanic (turbocolin) I'm a definate for the weekend. Got the suspension and brakes in, intake and exhaust, just no cruise control. Sounds good and should have no problems taking a full tank of gas and not rubbing. (Coincidentally, I'll have a FS thread up soon for some Eibach springs. I'm not selling the Prodrive struts )

Also, I reserved a room for Philly Friday night, but can't make it to Philly. I'm going to cancel my res, but if someone still need a room, PM me and I'll just switch names on the res.

See you all Saturday.

Only tool that I know I might need is a bottle opener

Could somebody produce a zoomed in map of the Rome to Albany segment ?
The rest of the route looks like simple stay-on-the-interstate navigation.

The route is a very rough estimate. The backroads in the Rome to Albany are ones I know initimately and we'll be taking. On the other routes we'll be veering on/off the interstates as time allows.

Hey all - I just wrote this up for coworkers and thought I'd share it in case you guys wanted to copy/paste. Feel free to change things around- I might not have gotten all the details exactly right, but it should be close enough.

++++++++++++++++++

This is the 5th annual 48 Hour of Tri-State “Drive-a-thon”

For those who know my enthusiasm in the Subaru community, I will again be participating in my 2nd running of this event. The Subaru community is a rather large and bizarre crowd and we have made a name for ourselves all across the nation through the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club (NASIOC) web forum. As a subset, the tri-state (NY, NJ, PA, and sometimes CT and DE depending on who’s asking) is a tight-knit group of enthusiasts who share tips, stories, and parts with one another.

Unfortunately, the chances to meet one another in person are infrequent. In an attempt to get to know the person on the other side of the keyboard, the community began to organize this drive which lasts 48 hours and covers as much of the tri-state area as we can. The routes have gone through many different areas over the years with planned stops for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, where locals organize meets. Some tag along for the trip, others just come out and say hi.

Since this is all for fun, we decided to add a bit of seriousness to this annual event. Like last year, once again, this “fun(d) drive” will be raising money for the American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org). Any amount of money will be of great help to ACS and all donations go straight to them. Some people like to sponsor drivers by how many miles they drive (it’s predicted that our route will take us over roughly 1000 miles between 7:00pm Friday night and 7:00pm Sunday night through 3 states and 2 countries.) $0.01 per mile is only a $10 donation and all donations are tax deductible. Feeling more generous? How about $0.05 per mile? Either way, your donations are greatly appreciated.

If you’re interested in helping out, just drop by and see me.

Thanks!

And I threw in links at the end to all of our "sponsors" for the trip, but, obviously, copying and pasting the links doesn't work from email to the forum here, but you get the idea.

Murray/Ted, you are going to have to take my name off the list. I am still without snow tires and my town has sent out their car tax invoices. I will try to to plan better for next year, have fun this year and take lots of pics!

I feel like I forgot my permission slip on the day of the field trip and the entire class is going except for me and the slightly slow kid who sits at the front of the class. Third grade blows, have fun guys.

sorry to see you can't make it man .

I know murray, abby, and I will not be making it to the official kickoff......we are going to Philly and catching up with everyone friday night.

Is anyone else going to be doing this? I was thinking perhaps (if anyone else was) we could meet up and grab some drinks while waiting for the convoy to arrive?

PM me if anyone is interested......not really trying to setup a meet, just something small if others will be starting (arriving earlier friday in philly) like us.

Hmm I have snows on my subaru that isn't going.... If that is the only thing stopping you, just get down to the AZP Shop and we can swap them over with you. They are 205-55-16 Mounted on 01 RS Rims.

On a side note, my car mysteriously died today, almost seems like bad gas symptoms, glad i've opted out of taking it on the trip. but cause we aren't stuck somewhere with it.

we have a nice handfull of the TSC (Toronto Subaru Club) coming down to N Falls on the 7th. i guess we'll be there starting around the 7pm time (if that's correct. pls correct me if i'm wrong)..

have you determined the location of where everyone is meeting in Niagara Falls? Hooter's parking lot is pretty small, and parking is a few bucks unless you eat there.

When you meet some of us TSC'ers, make sure to ask about "The Ballet" aka Sundowners We always end up there after our Cruises .

I'm planning on starting in philly also. I was hoping to meet up with you abby and brent. Let me about what time you guys are heading down, or i might even meet abby and brent at their apartment and head to philly from there. Give me a call or I'll call one of you guys to let me know.

Jen, call me sometime during the day on Friday, abby works till 6, then i figure we wont be out of here till like 9ish... but you can show up here anytime after 5, cause that about when i'll be done running my errands. hopefully.

also, Paisan, when you guys are like 2 hours away from philly(estimated) gimme a call, so i know when to head into the city and prepare hte lobby crew for a small flood of people, and to reserve seats at the Bar.
i'll have my room before anyone even arrives, so some people can just come in and leave someone downstairs to check-in, then come hang out upstairs to get out of hte lobby. (less frustrating for the hotel workers) i'm sure we'll have a movie or soemthing playing to take up time till everyone is checked in.

I have a brand spanking new 06 blue wagon and I'm itching to go - been watching this thread forever. But I just can't swing it. I do want to go to the 'send-off' dinner at Chili's though. I so like those chix taco's.

Ok not a problem. I am off on Friday during the day give me a call sometime after 3pm on thurs up til about 5pm. After that I'll be at work til 3 or 4am. Basically we need to get my legacy over to the AZP shop on Friday and swap the tires and rims off my legacy onto your car before heading to Chilis (about 5 min away) So plan on being down in the area of the AZP shop around 3pm give or take on Friday.

make sure it can last 48 straight hours.... or at least bring the charger! worst thing is knowing the CB works.......but only when the bateries are good.

Ian and i had this issue with 2-way radios once on one of the Saab runs we did. and we all know that the CB chatter is what makes the trip great.

Certain areas near the edge of the falls (on the parkway) have ice zones now.. Probably caused recently by the number of buildings (new casino, new hotels) along the hill edge.. makes the wind the mist to come back down and freeze on the sidewalks and small stretches of road.. it's a small stretch, near the restaurant near the horseshoe falls. for those making a site seeing trek to the falls at night.. It's not a show stopper, but just an fyi. if you are going to see the lights of the falls at night up close, i definitely reccomend you bring waterproof jackets and pants. I went last friday and i turned into a wet popsicle with icicles hanging from my hoodie.

So far I have four to meet with you if you make a pit stop here in Corning. I still have three more to call that I think will want to come over, also.

Turns out Colin doesn't need my room in Philly, anyone else. It will be cancelled by 3pm today if no one needs it.
Also, looks like my co-driver can't make it, so I'm looking for a co-driver from Scranton on, and someone to share a room in Niagara (don't worry, it has two beds). Let me know,
Bruce

And I have Colin covered for the delivery.
