Default 05 Sti Custom tuned- Help with header tuning

I have an 05 Sti with a Turbo back exhaust, injen intake and recently got it dyno tuned by a local shop with cobb protuner. After the tune, I got borla headers. The car seems to have a little more top end, but low and mid range seem to be more than a little sluggish. My question is: Is it possible that my car has lees hp with the headers on there, since it isn't tuned for headers? Will getting it tuned with the headers make a "very noticable difference?"

Please help.

yes it's possible you are making less overall power with headers 'untuned'. THis is a mod that is not within the learning specs of the ECU and should be retuned for.

Keep in mind however, that Even with different tuning, MOST(maybe ALL) aftermarket headers will be more laggy in the low and mid-range.

I have Megan Racing headers now and they cracked, so I just finished the Port 'n' Polish on stock manifolds earlier this week. I almost looking forward to seeing the better low end again...

With headers and not being tuned you will give up low end tourqe. It can be tuned though. On my stock turbo setup I had about 269 Ft lbs of torque at 2600 rpm, that was monsterous!

Potential for more taper at the top end too. I had to add to the boost map up high. But that'll depend a lot on the turbo as well. Mine's a little Kong II, which is about like stock.
