NASA autoX @ VIR 2/18/06!
Off season? What off season! ;-)
NASA's Mid-Atlantic '06 Autocross Championship begins with a time trial/autocross for double points on the 1.1 mile "Patriot Course" at Virginia International Raceway on the NC border outside Danville, VA on Saturday February 18, 2006. This event only has ~60 slots open and you can sign up for a single heat (6-8 timed/scored runs) plus an optional additional heat (6-8 timed fun runs.) There will be NO WORK ASSIGNMENTS (NASA is hiring pro cornerworkers/cone shaggers for this event.) Entry fees start at $50 and go up... the longer you wait to sign up. When you're not autocrossing, you can watch US DRIFT on the Patriot Course as well as a traditional NASA HPDE (driver's ed) and NASA sprint/enduro roadracing on the 3.3 mile full course. Touring laps behind a pace car on the big track will be available during our lunch break for only $10 per car. Details, pre-registration, Patriot Course maps, videos, and soforth are here: http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/21806 Although I am no longer a Subie owner, I'd love to see some there! ;-) Thanks and happy holidays all, Jon

That's pretty kewl making use of the inner Patriot Course during the HPDE/Races.
I must say I was initially confused/concerned about how the events would be coordinated before checking the maps. |

Yep, it'll be a good time, with plenty to watch around us when we're not autocrossing.
There are concrete walls all around Patriot in the grass between track surfaces, and the divider/connector roads accessible from the full course will have barriers on them. We'll be fine... it's been done before. Thanks- Jon |

Unfortunately yes, for insurance reasons. This is not the case for our regular (i.e. "non roadcourse") autocrosses in '06, though.
