Default Help! Lost security lug key! What do I do?

Well, I screwed up big time, and when I rotated my tires, I lost my security nut key. I think it must have still been one one of the nuts when I drove off, cause it's NOWHERE. GONE.

This was a set of 04 STi wheels, with what I guess are the optional Subaru locking lugs.

Steve at Auto Innovations said he could break them off, but it might damage the wheel. =( =( My car is now waiting at AI, wanting its new tires and suspension.

What options do I have here? The key is LOST, I have no hope of ever finding it. can the dealership help? I don't have the original packaging, so I don't know if they can match the pattern or not. Do I just tell Steve to break em?

if you are careful you can tap a socket onto the lug with a 4lb sledge. only do this if the socket will have room to slide down the lock otherwise you could damage the wheel. you will damage the locking lug but you can then replace them with new locks. i had to do this to a friends car the other day to change his half shafts, 'cause he also lost his key.

GatorGrip. Go pick one up from Sears. They can take off most locking lugs just as easy as if you actually had the key.

without damage? This (thankfully) isn't an emergency situation.

if not gatorgrip, I know that some dealerships keep a master set of McGard wheels lock keys (there are only like 16) and I had to have my locks taken off of my Prelude by David McDavid Honda at one point...
