Default change tire size?

I have a 1999 Forester and want to change from 205/70-15 to 215/65-15 tire size. Differences in revolutions/mile between the sizes is 0.5-1.0%. The tire width difference is between .2-.35 in, depending on the tire brand. Anyone done this or see any problems? Thanks.

You may have the size wrong. The 205/70-15 is almost the same as the 215/60-16. But a 215/65-16 will have a diameter of around 27" versus 26.3" for the 205/70-15. That's about +3% for rolling circumferance. The 215/60-16 has a diameter of about 26.1" and is the stock 16" size for Foresters. A 215/65-16 will probably fit though if you want more ground clearance and fewer revs per mile.

Here's a link to a good tire/wheel calculator

You are going to go with a wider, yet ever so slightly smaller diameter tire. If you using the same 15" rims, you are looking at less then .2" more rubber on bith sides of the rim. I'm not 100% sure it can clear the struts and fender, but most likely. Stock sizes are conservative.

here's another one
