i don't think there's any transmission software specific for the RS, and if there is you won't be able to utilize it because you really only need transmission software when you're breaking trackion with the power... which you won't be, even with all those mods.

other than that, PP6 from rallitek and an EQ header and a CAI and you'll be set. also, Cams.

and a track pipe really won't do crap, it will actually hurt in the majority of the rev range.

but umm...

yeah it's really not very... worth it. i mean you'll still be slow. like... really slow. the money would be much better spent on tires and wheels, and suspension like agx's and sti pink springs. or coilovers. in fact, the money would improve virtually every other aspect of the car more than it will improve power. suspension, looks, interior, and weight reduction are all way better.

well, i wouldnt say youd be slow if you got the cams, retainer springs, full exhuast, intake, flywheel, weight reduction, and pp6 (adds up to around 245-265 range depending on type of ecu/reflash). then you would crush almost any wrx, but after all that modding, you could have bought a wrx and made that even faster.

i have a 2005 2.5rs auto and i have rallitek eql headers, stromung midpipe/muffler, perrin flywheel, c/f hood, weaponR intake, tires, wheels, springs, and strut bars, and IM STILL SLOW. im about around 175-185 hp range.

too bad i dont have a wrx...im lucky to have my car anyway, im only 17 woot!

+1

If going fast was what you were looking for and the RS' stock power doesn't do it for you you've made the wrong car buying decision.

I'm not a stoplight racer, don't autoX or take my car to track days. I wanted a car that was fun to drive down a twisty back road and my Subie fills that need VERY well.

parent's didn't let you get a manual? you'd be considerably faster if you had all that and a manual.

If i want to drive a fast car with great handling i drive my summer car that I track from time to time

Greg,

I'd address handling first then. Some new wheels/tires, springs/struts or coilovers, swaybars, end links, etc.

Then stopping power. Better brake pads, brake fluid, rotors, maybe calipers if you go with bigger wheels, SS lines.

Third is looks, exterior and interior, throw car audio/video in as well.

Lastly is power. Your bang-for-the-buck is the least here and why I recommend it last. You've got to spend a lot of money to get a little power.

Not necessarily. I got my borla knock-off header for $185 and real Borla catback for $145 (new). Perrin Pulley was $80 use and custom ground kit was around $32. Intake piping off eBay was $15 and a K&N filter was $45. So for $502 I've pretty much done all the bolt-ons (I don't consider cams a bolt on as they're a little more indepth to install). That's where I sit right now. Another $350 or so for Pinks and a rear swaybar. So for under a grand I've got the power and most of the handling dealt with. Rims/Tires for $1000 or so. And for what's left over under the $2000 mark I can do some work on the brakes and a few other things. Of course, I worked a Cobb shifter into the deal when I bought the car so I didn't factor that in. But for $2000, if you shop wisely, you can do a lot of stuff.

Just an FYI, the Borla-style headers won't work with an automatic, but the OBX ones on Ebay will, so add another hundred bucks if you're doing up an auto.
