Default FS: 98 Impreza L Wagon Blk $1400/bo

This is a 1998 black Impreza L wagon 5-speed with around 130k miles.

The body is in fair-to-decent condition. There are a few small dings and scratches on the door panels. The front bumper could use some paint because it's been through several NE winters.

It DOES need its engine replaced so it may be perfect for your project. I've thought about swapping an engine but just don't have the time now. Otherwise, mechanically, the car is fine. The suspension may need some attention due to its age, but nothing out of the ordinary. The radiator and front brake pads/discs have been replaced in the last 6 months.

I suppose that a local sale is preferable, but if you arrange the shipping or whatever, I'll cooperate. The car's located in Arlington, MA. I'm paying to have the car stored, so make me an offer.

now... by "it DOES need its engine replaced" do you mean the motor is already toast? or on it's last legs?

This might be a good beginning to a rally car. Tell me more about the engine condition.

Dude... it's a 98... not a 93....

Subaru stopped making FWD in the US in 95ish (I think) I know they didn't make FWD in '98 though.

Only thing to watch out for on this one is that it's an L, which means rear drum brakes, as opposed to the disks of the OBS.

The L doesn't have ABS. Both OBS and L have rear drums.

Not quite. My 95L wagon (5 speed) had abs and rear disc brakes. I'm not saying the rear disc brakes were standard, but probably an option.

Since there's confusion on the issue of rear discs, All Imprezas went to rear drums by '97. The rear discs came back in '98, but only on the RS. So earlier Imprezas can be found with rear discs, but nothing after '97 except the RS's.

Further, all '96 OBSs had discs.
All '95 2drs with ABS had discs.
