Default help.....more misfiring

Hmmm a couple weeks ago my car was misfiring and running really rough, so i started with replacing the spark plugs. There was no more misfiring, so i figured that was the problem......

Now its misfiring again and i've only driven it like 800-1000 miles.
Once its is warmed up its misfires a lot any time I try to accelerate more than the slightest amount. I mean barely touching the pedal it seems to run fine, but anymore and it misfires like crazy.

It seems to run perfectly normal when its cold and as it warms up it starts misfiring a little around 2k rpm and when you really mash the gas. And it gradually gets worses as it warms up.

Hmmm at first I was thinking it was a dirty injector, but after I noticed the connection to the temperature I thought it might be the coolant temp sensor.

Help please?

Ken

MAF and temp sensor was my problem. Exact same symptoms. If you check the error code(took 2 weeks for one to finally pop up), you'll get a code saying it's running rich, not sure the code number. Since my car was still under warranty(5yr, 60k mile), I took it to the dealer. They said MAF and temp sensors were bad. Both were replaced, and she runs like a dream. It's kind of goofy that the car wouldn't go to a limp or default mode. Rather it just sputters and coughs like it's dropping a cylinder, makes doing 65mph a chore as you bounce up and down 5mph every time it fires and misfires. I'm sure it's hilarious to the car beside you It's weird that it only happens after you warm the car up some. Maybe there's a default "cold" mode it runs first, not sure.

Is there an easy way to figure out which of the two it is without replacing one or the other? Where is a good (cheap) place to get a new MAF?

Well, cheap, you can clean the sensor as a no-cost repair attempt. Apparently, they can get dirty and not read well.

How many miles are on your car? If it's under 60k, you're still covered under warranty, and you can have your local Subaru dealer do it for free. If not, I'm not sure where the cheapest place would be. Any auto parts store can get one, as well as your local Subaru dealer. Then just install it yourself.

Up by the intake, usually between the air filter and the intake along some plastic tubing. I'm not sure how different a '95 is to my '02, so I'm not sure where they would have stuck it. Follow the wires. One should point you to it.
