Default Confusing Exhaust Pipe on Ebay

Ok, I was looking at some catbacks on ebay, this listing came through.

Would this work to replace our secondary cat, or is it the wrong shape / length?

The one picture with the circle around a cat shows a turbo downpipe. It's completely the wrong shape for an N/A car to use, but might be the right one for a WRX or something.

2.5RS cars do not have a secondary cat pipe (at least not through 2003)... both cats are located in the section of the exhaust... it goes like this (from the heads back):

header --> Cat section (2 cats) --> Midpipe (resonator) --> Axleback (muffler)

I wasn't sure since I remember my 1997 2.2 liter had 2 separate pieces for cat sections, I couldn't for the life of me remember if this was the shape of the 2nd one or not.

That explains somethign I saw last night... Some aftermarket company in the UK had a test pipe set up that you bought in two pieces... the curved part by the header then the straight part after... Hayward and Scott is the place...

i believe that the first cat is in the header itself, then you have a midpipe that goes from the header, then you have a catted section that could/is called the resonator, after that section of piping, you have your muffler section of piping. at least that is how it is on my 98' legacy.

On my old car it was Header (Y-Pipe), Primary Cat (J-Bend), Secondary Cat (S-Bend), Midpipe, Muffler.

I think you are mistaken. I too have a 98 legacy.

It goes:

header->cat section->midpipe (has 2 resonators)->axelback.

The midpipe looks like it has a cat, but it is just a resonator.

Correct, I found pix of my entire manifold back taken apart on my garage floor back in 2001 when I was turbo'ing my Impreza L.

The 2nd O2 Sensor is out of sight on top of the cat, hidden by the tranny, it's there though.
