Default Water Vs. Alky VS. Meth...

I searched for a while and couldnt come up with the answers I am looking for.

How do the three compare to eachother? I am assuming that Meth or Alky will yeild higher numbers than water alone, right?

Advantages/disadavanteages of each?

I know that is very common to see a 50/50 mix, but Is anyone running just water? Results?

Thanks. Mike

water will yeild the charge cooling only. Which will allow a little more agressive fueling/boost/timing
Alch/water mix will allow a little more agressive fueling/boost/timing
Straight alch will allow yet slightly more agressive fueling/boost/timing
Methanol will allow yet again SLIGHTLY more agressive fueling/boost/timing

50/50 alch/water mix is commonly thought as "best" because it is the best bang for the buck. A good bit better potential, and half the cost of straight alch.

One other benefit of 50/50 is that a lot of people worry about a plastic jug if VERY flamable stuff in their engine compartment. Well, 50/50 doesnt ignite

Don't forget that methanol is extremely toxic to deal with and straight alcohol simply should not be ingested.

Methanol is quite a bit cheaper than Alchy. I get it in 5 gal containers. Wear gloves and do the mixing in an open garage and you should be ok. I use a 1 parts distilled water 2 parts methanol formula. I also have a spec C tank that fit 12 liters so I do not have to refill as frequent.

Cheers

There are some things that a straight-water mixture can do which cannot, or at least should not, be done with alcohol in the mix, such as injecting pre-turbo. "Wet compression" is a big thing in the turbine world, even though the name sounds like the title of a bad pr0n movie.

It should be noted, however, that iff you inject straight water without making any other adjustments/tuning, you'll lose power because it slightly delays the ignition of the mixture. Fortunately, the ability to add timing, boost, or subtract fuel, generally offsets that delay by a wide margin.

Rallispec Ltd sells them on their website.

Methanol is considerably cheaper, I am getting 5 gallon cans of Sunoco powermist methanol for about 30 bucks a can. As a perspective, denatured alky is about 11 dollars a gallon at home depot. Unless you get alky in bulk, I.E. 50 gallon drum, meth is much more bang for the buck. Have you checked out the aquamist forums yet? THere is good info there on injection mixes. I am right now using 50/50 meth/distilled water. Go the aquamist home site, and then to the forums in the menus at the top of the homepage.
