newbie owner
hello all, im about to become the owner of a 96 impreza. its a 2.2 auto coupe, with an unknown exhaust muffler, carbon fiber hood, with scoop and what looks like an sti spoiler. anyway, the orignal owner has taken great car of this car, with records at the local subby dealer. my question is this, is there any parts that are swappable onto this car from newer cars to make it a little quicker. im mainly buying this car for the backseat, cause my 86 mr2 doesnt have one plus its the only car i can see myself getting into that isnt that expensive that doesnt have a back seat. my mr2 wasnt all that fast, but id like the impreza to have the same acceleration.

you could take out the backseat, that'll make it quicker
no seriously, unless you have about 3 large and a garage and know-how for a motor swap, you won't get too many parts for the newer (turbo) cars that will fit... your 2.2 has single port headers and since it's already got a muffler, i don't think there's too much else you can do. you can however get some suspension parts for a 98-01 RS and make it handle like a dream though happy modding! also, i'd suggest taking off the spoiler- the weight lost by the hood isn't going to do much with the weight gained from a big spoiler. |

PO should have spent more money on zing than bling.
The good news, most all Suby parts swap onto most Subys. The bad news, you've got an automatic, which means your car will never be quick. It will, however, be reliable and easy to work on like all Subarus. Here's my site showing how I turned a boring 'L' into basically an RS. 188,000 miles and still counting. |
