Question Anyone have Solid Info about the H6?

Hey guys,
Does anyone have any solid info about the H6 engine? Like when it will be available, which trims it will go in, pricing, etc.

My lease on my Rodeo runs out in August and I want to get a Legacy GT Limited H6 or Wagon or Outback. Thanks.

Paisan - This info is as solid as consistent rumor can be.

The H6 is supposed to be getting released this fall. I believe Oct., but I've also heard as early as August.

It will definitely be in the Outback (probably a new, higher-end model), and likely into a Legacy GT. I don't expect that it'll be made available to the other models.

Also, the 6 will only come attached to an automatic tranny. We all hope that we'll see a manual down the road. I expect that when the US WRX comes out, its manual tranny will be able to be fitted to the 6, and so we can once again have a hot-rod. Then again, I also expect to see the Turbo 4 in a Legacy. Time will tell.

As for pricing, I haven't heard a thing. I expect that it'll be about a $1500 premium for the engine, plus any content upgrades to the car. Wild guess though.

Timberline Green Pearl

FWIW, as far as model introductions go, the MY00 Legacy hit the showrooms in limited quantity in August 99. I remember this vividly because no dealer in the Washington, DC metro area had a GT in Rio Red, Black Granite Pearl, or Timberline Green Pearl, complicating the decision. At the last minute, decided to have the Internet help me out: Found the dealer inventory on SOA's site, found two dealers in NJ, and made a road trip with the kids. Seeing them in person really helped out on the color choice. Ended up with Timberline Green, though Rio Red sure looks sweet, Eric. It was overcast when we saw it and I bet we would have ended up with one had we seen it in the light (it's my wife's car).
