Question 06 Impreza 2.5i exhaust question

I have a 2006 Impreza 2.5i sedan naturally aspirated. I was considering putting on an exhaust, but because of possible warranty issues only doing the rear section back, i mean the section that starts just before the rear axle, not a full cat back system. Does anyone know for sure if this part from a 2000-2005 wrx/sti will fit without a problem if i could find one, if the specs are the same, the lengths, etc? I know the diameter of the pipe will be bigger (not sure if stock is 2 or 2.5 inches, i want to use 2.5 inch). Any suggestions for mufflers (Apex'i, Skunk 2, Buddy Club, Megan, HKS, DC Sports??????) Thanks in advance for anyones help.

you will have to have a muffler shop rotate the flange for you, but other than that it will mount without any problem.

if you can't have that done for less than $50, you're being ripped off. it should take less than 10 minutes to anyone who knows what they're doing.

stock is probably 1 3/4" but it's cast... so it's heavy and looks nice. on your n/a, you probably don't want anything bigger than 2.5"- my catback is 2.25" and that's best for midrange torque and highened. any bigger and you'll lose grunt down low(which the engine is designed for).

mufflers... well...

as for mufflers it's up to you. don't get anything too cheap but the new OBX and megan actually sound pretty nice- so why not. if you want to go for a nice name brand, veilside looks sweet and is just about as much as an apexi. plus no one has them for subies...

and as bongchild so tactfully suggested, there are lots of threads on this already so do some reading and you'll end up far more secure in your decision.
