Question Headlight leveling harness.

What's up everyone? I am switching my 07 WRX lights out with 07 STI lights. I have the pair of 07 STI HID lights, and the leveling switch. I just need the headlight, and leveling motor harness. I am most likely going to buy the headlight harness from Lightwerkz. So that leaves me with the hardest thing to find, the leveling harness. Does anyone know where I can get this, or anyone have one that I can buy? I was thinking of buying an interior harness that would have the switch connector, then I would have to get a front harness with the leveling connectors. So what would I have to do cut and crimp them together to make one harness? Bare with me everyone, I do not work alot with wiring and thats why I am posting this thread. If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. Thanks

I did, they will sell me the whole front harness. Which will cost me severeal hundred dollars. I would need the front harness for the leveling motor ends and the interior harness for the leveling switch ends. But how do they connect. Would I have to cut them and the connect both the ends of the harnesses and crimp together(making it directly from the switch to the leveling motors)? I thought this harness needed a fuse and a ground, not sure? Here is one for sell right now, really wish it was not JDM.http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1882855 Anyone shed some light on this? Thanks

I ended up making mine. Got some leveling motors retrofitted into my 06 WRX headlights. It involved a lot of work though... I've been meaning to put together a write up for it but haven't had the chance.

There was one or two wires that needed to be passed through from the cabin to the engine bay. One of the worst part was to hardwire the leveling motors themselves (because I did not have the plugs). I had the plug to the back switch though (with its wires cut).

I looked into buying one too but the best price I found was over $150. If you're not up for like 6+ hours of work (i'm no electronic/wiring expert either, and worked slooow), then buy it. Otherwise, make it. I'll try to post up some pics later tonight.

Cool

Okay, here's a quick run-down of how I wired mine. I did it according to the stock wiring harness, referencing the below wiring diagram.

You'll need to tap 2 wires, both are RY (I've heard of others tapping just one of them and having success, but I'm replicating stock, so tapped both:

1. Connector B152 (for RY wire from switch)
2. Connector F41 (for RY wire from motors)

Two wires will lead from the cabin into the firewall. RY from the connector F41 and RG from the switch. You have several options on how to pass the wires through. I combined this project with my DIY Puddle Light project, and S2k projector retrofit project, so the following pics may show other other wires too.

I chose the following route to pass my wires though... behind the wheel well, there's a hole that leads into the cabin:

Used a thick 10ga wire to fish the wires out:

I used the same route for my puddle light wires, so in this picture, one set is for the levelers and the other is for the puddle lamps:

Wiring loom for the levelers is zip tied to other wiring at the top of the fender, and pulled through into the engine bay via the big hole next to the battery (not visible from this pic):

Each leveling motor has 3 pins.
- RY from the cabin goes to both motors
- RG from the cabin goes to both motors
- B (ground) goes to both sides, but I grounded this to an existing screw in the engine bay.

This picture shows the 3-wire LEFT leveler harness (it also shows the wiring for my retrofitted and HIDs)

Wiring loom runs across to the driver-side leveling motor (one loom for my leveling motor, other loom for the HIDs):

It's hard to see here, but my 3-wire leveling harness in this pic is connected to the motor (headlight is sitting on the radiator, facing backwards).

Back to the inside, get all those wires connected to the switch accordingly to the wiring diagram. For the illumination circuit, I tapped the fog light harness:

That's it! Not exactly a simple job, but I was doing several projects at once and had a lot of these areas taken apart so it was convenient.

If you do run the wires like I did, I highly suggest running several more wires to save yourself the hassle from doing it again for a future project that may require this pass-through.

Anyone know which wires are the FB-7 FB#5? The ones that simon was talking about in his installation. F41 and B152, if I had pictures of what to connected my RY wire to, I would most likely have my leveling system working.

Hey, so fb 5 and 7 are fusebox locations. The connectors I mentioned is where your wires need to be tapped. You need to reach BEHIND that beige colored fuse box to find those connectors. Can't really seem em, but u can unplug and pull into view. Or u can unbolt the box to get to it easier. I m on a snowboarding trip right now no computer access and can barely mke out the diagram on my phone to make sure I know what u r asking. Hope this helps though.

How about sourcing the connectors from a junkyard or someone parting out their car? You might get lucky..........

don't waste you're time emailing him. He doesn't respond to ANY of the emails! I tried them all! The personal ones and the one of his website. Not a single reply. You're best bet is A.) making one yourself, B.) being one of the very few lucky ones that finds one whole for sale. Let me know if you do find them because I still need one. I have realized making one is probably going to be the route I have to go and there are plenty of people on here that are nice enough to walk you through it if you can find all the right parts.

Check by calling all the junk yards around your area, thats where I found my (07 STI Headlight Leveling Motor) plugs with all the wiring. I just cut the front harness and pulled the 3 wires(RY,RG,B) all the wiring that connected to the plugs and cut it out, 5 1/2FT to 6 FT long I believe. Then find the Bulk(interior) harness to get the leveling switch plug and cut about 1 FT of the 5 wires(RY,RG,B,V,andOrW). Then all you have to do is connect these like Simon did above. Also thank you Simon, because of you I have a operating leveling system in my 07 WRX. Keep looking you will run across the plugs, I finally did.

Also if you have a hard time finding where to splice both RY wires to, its behind the fuse box(F41 for the motor plugs,B152 for the interior switch). They should be the second and third connectors, if I am not mistaking F41 connector is gray with seven poles and B152 connector is white with twelve poles. Take the panel(thats under the steering wheel) completely off so to get to the fues box. Then take the top two nuts off the fuse box mount so you can actually move the entire fuse box downward to unplug and get the connectors in view. Well the picture will not post, so here is the info. FB-6 and -7 is the fuse system that categorizes the leveling system , RY meaning color code, G or D is the color of connector, and the number is the pole in the connector(when looking for a certain pole, make sure you face the connector towards you and start at top left which is pole no.1 to bottom right which is the last pole). FB-6,RY(RedYellow),G1(G meaning gray connector and 1 meaning the no.1 pole) and FB-7,RY(RedYellow),D10(D which is a white connector and 10 meaning the no.10 pole).
