Default 00-01 intake on 04

will a intake that is for a 00-01 fit on a 04 rs. I mean its the same engine and same intake design so i would assume so rite?

it does, but you need to make a hole for the ait sensor. i am using a cobb intake. here is a pic of my my04 with a cobb cai. you cant really see it but i drill and dremeled out a hole near the bend, and use the rubber grommet from the stock intake to help fasten it.

00-01 Impreza are Map based not MAF if your car is Map based it fits.

everything ATX said is correct, it is what i did on my 03 and 04, get a 00-01 cobb and drill the hole i think it was 1/4" hole? but dont hold me to that i can check just use one of unibit drill bits, and start small and keep checkin every little bit

remeber when you are done clean out all metal shavings and any leftovers, wash out the tube.. and check fitment

does it matter where you drill the hole in the tube?

id attempt to do it as close to the filter as you can like around or before the bend

now the sensor might not reach but the wire is wrapped in like electrical tape you can cut it out carfully to get some more length out of it

REMEMBER MEAUSRE TWICE CUT ONCE!! i cannot stress that enough make sure the sensor can reach the hole you drill before its drilled

00-04 were map and 05 is maf and just to let anyone know that was wondering. I have no clue about 06 tho
