Default what is the issue? coolant pics

Hey guys, well it seems that i have absolutely no luck. Car went in to the shop approx 3,000 miles ago for a leaking headgasket. was replaced with cometic gaskets, twe cams, valvesprings/retainers etc. thermostat, timing belt, water pump.
ive been battling a hesitation issue, replaced coil pack, cat, pcv, fuel filter, wires, plugs, front o2, about to replace knock sensor.

and now this.
about 1,700 miles after the work was done, i was getting gas, and decided to check my oil! the stick came up BONE DRY. so i put a quart in and immediately brought the car for an oil change. switched to synthetic at this point, not sure what weight was used.

1,300 miles later! i notice the oil pressure dropping during cornering, and braking... car is DRY again! im consuming oil at an alarming rate!
there is no oil on the ground around the car, and no blue smoke coming from the tail pipe.

i popped the cap to the radiator and the coolant looks a nice green normal color.
-i check my coolant overflow tank and see a froathy / milkshake mess with black deposits floating on top.
-the oil on the dipstick looks normal and does not appear to have coolant in it. (ie. milkshake, or thicker)
-I have recently ran a can of techron through my gas tank.
-at idle i notice small bubbles every once and a while in the coolant overflow tank.
-while opening and closing the throttle i get big gulping bubbles.

The first picture is of the car when it is cool. notice the black gunk stuck to the sides of the container. There does not seem to be fluid oil floating on top of the coolant, just these deposits, and the froathyness.

the second is after a normal drive to get lunch and then back to the office.

If the car is driven harder the coolant gets much thicker and the level raises quite a bit.

car is going back to the shop Monday morning.
someone tell me the head gasket isnt leaking again! i can not afford to open this engine again! the amount of money ive spent on this car could have easily afforded me a complete STi swap with some beer money left over.

Poo.... looks/sounds like your cometic HG is leaking I think.
If the exhaust ports on your block are discolored brown, then it is most likely a leak

Milky Colored Coolent + Black Slime Chunks In Overflow Tank = Compression Leak from Cylinder Bore to Coolent Passage

Possible Reasons:

Blown Headgaskets
Cracked Cylinder
Warped Head Deck
Warped Block Deck

Your car should be under a 100k mile headgasket warranty. I don't know how all of that stacks up with your new parts and cometic HG.

Call the SOA Warranty line listed on their site. Good luck getting anything out of them.

Should have gone for the STI swap. Seriously you'll never get rid of the headgasket issue.

the only thing im hoping for now is some kind of warrenty on the work that the dealership did the first time. headgaskets were replaced 3,000 miles ago! should not have blown or be leaking already.

I would investigate a little and ask if they measure the deck to be true on the block and heads before installing HGs. If not ask why?

I had mine replaced under warranty at 58k miles and they were leaking again by 89k. I got on the phone with SOA and they said since mine was a Phase I motor it wasn't covered by the 100k HG warranty that Phase IIs have. Apparently not enough people with Phase Is complained.

Now for a shortblock swap.

It does not look good.
MY99 2.5GT pretty much covered it.
Neither of my Phase-I's were covered, so don't complain since you may have an out with SOA.

When my head gaskets blew the 2nd time, less than a year after being replaced by the dealer the 1st time, it was covered. However, that was because there was a 1 year, unlimited mileage warranty on the parts. Since you had them use the Cometic gaskets I think you'll probably be SOL.

Good luck...

I was having the same problem with my 99 RS before I sold it. I had just had the motor fixed because the #3 piston broke. After the guy that got it tested it he found out that it was leaking and the block was warped. Good luck with this.
