Default 06 for 05 tail light swap question

Just a quick light swap question.

I am planning on swapping my o6 tails for some o5ís tonight and was wondering if the harnesses just hook up between the models. Or do I have to take out all the bulbs and wiring to make it work. Thanks for the help.

you will have to swap taillights with the harness.. 05's have 5 bulb harness and 06 has 4. but the harness's can be interchanged. i have an 05 and i did the 06 swap

I have an 05 and swapped with an 06 - met in a parking lot and in the dark it still only took 15 minutes.

Unplug, unscrew, take out and then reverse the process - drive home

i swapped my '06s for a set of '05s yesterday. we did not swap wiring harnesses - so i ended up with an empty bulb socket on the new lights - and he ended up with an extra bulb on his. even so, everything worked fine and we are both happy.

pic of my lights - new ones on top, old ones on bottom for reference:

or you can just get that tailight tint at a low percentage and I think that looks nice too. I too like the look of the 05 tails much better than the cleared 06's. Its kind of ricey from the factory.

I recently did a tail swap on my 2006 using 2005 taillights. I also changed the lighting pattern a bit:

the re-wire is easy - you just have to lengthen one single wire to make it work. The rest I'll leave up to you. No DIY tutorial's on this - it's too braindead-easy.
