Default Lifted STi....Please don't ban me.

Well. When I first bought my STi I never thought it would come to this. Initially I had visions of a clean, tinted, lowered white sti...a sleeper. So that's what I went for a first. The more I used my STi for everyday things the more I realized it didn't fit my lifestyle that well. Mountain bikes shoved in the back seat...surfboards in the front. When I added a yak rack I realized I loved my car that much more just because it all of a sudden became that much more practical (even though it detracted from the car...in the aesthetics isle). When I started realizing that my lowered (on gf210s) sti wasn't cutting it when traveling to the mountain or the surf, I knew I needed a vehicle that had a bit more ground clearance. I started thinking of buying an old school wagon and lifting it, maybe an outback sedan...Then what I realized is that I still wanted STi power, just with the ground clearance of an outback (or a little more). So....(sorry for the lame pics...better shots to come).

Thanks to Mark at ground control for hooking me up with a great product that suits my needs perfectly. The car actually handles great...Takes bumps much better than before yet has stiffer spring rates (??) ...I am also able to drop the front down about 1-2" and the rear 1-1.5"...so I can drop the CG down a bit for those rare but great track/autoX days.
I was waiting at the shop today to get my alignment done parked next to a Pathfinder and noticed I had about 1-2" of ground clearance on the Nissan! The pics don't really do it justice for how much higher it is...gotta find a stock sti to take pics next to.
Also installed the PDE camber plates which I am very happy with...a steal for the price IMO. Solid design...lifted, I am running 1.8 of neg. camber and 5.0 of caster. Very happy with my current handling.
Well..I feel some hate coming...so please feel free to unleash.
If work would give me a damn weekend off, I'd be able to test the new setup down in Baja...so stay tuned for some pics/video of rally de bajito.

I don't want to hate on you. Its your car and you can do what you want with it. But you should've looked into an FXT. A turbo back and a reflash will give you plenty of power.

No kidding, it handles freakin great. I'll have to take out to the autoX soon to prove it

Next step will be to get the rest of my exhaust in and a Cobb Stage2 for a little more low end grunt.

Thought of it, but what's the point? Loose $4k swapping cars for something I am less into? Besides...I got more wheel travel than a FXT and a suspension that can handle a ton more abuse.

you know, after heading to mammoth i was curious what my choices were too in getting more ground clearance. i'm on espiler springs right now and actually thought about going back to coilovers to get higher; but that comes with big $$$.

hahahahahahahahahahaahhaahahahaha.....

I love that...plz man, raise it like 4-6 more inches and I will be happy. Im not kidding. That would look hilarious...driving around in an STi that sits like 3 feet off the ground...LOL, and get some really fat fat wheels.

Your car would definitely be a one of a kind. No doubt about that.

It does look a little weird, but I agree with you, your car should fit your lifestyle.

BTW - how did you mount your rack towers, looks very clean.

Interesting. I would've just gone back to stock suspension for more clearance, but that's just me.

Must be fun offroading without a care though. My car is such a road princess and the mere thought of bumpy terrain scares me.

For your car... to heck with the autox. Take her out for some dirt rally action!
