Power estimates , for basic 2.5 RS Bolt ons?
Im thinking about purchasing the Cobb Tuning Stage 2 Power Package for my 99 impreza 2.5
The kit comes with their equal length headers, cobb cat back , main crank pulley and a CAI. I was just wondering If i will even "notice" a difference if i buy all that. I mean its $2000 USD and I'd hope to gain at least a little bit of power from it. Anyone know what the numbers would be like?

well
to me that sounds pricey. they have equal length headers now on ebay (obx), you can get a cobb or injen cai for cheaper used. I think you can get a new greddy catback for 399, and i dont see pullies costing that much.
i have heard cobb makes quality parts, but for me its just too $ jsut my opinion dan |

yeah its a little pricey...yet for a little bit more money you can do the WRX engine swap...which will push you to the 227hp mark...
with what you mentioned up there, I think it will give you no more than 30hp/torque... |

I know i can find things used , but im not an Ebay guy really, and I just cant trust anyone online to do a used private sale online. IM not too upset with the cost, but im just curious about the power gain. I know its not going to be crazy, but will I simply be faster than stock? and if yes, how much?
PS: what is OBX ? i keep hearing the term, but i dont know what it is. |

Actually, I do plan to swap in the future, but I have so many concerns. 1. I know u have to change the crossmember to a WRX one.....where the hell do i go abouts looking for a crossmember? 2. The damn COST! The engine itself must be $3000 plus, and then labour? |

I would go the cheap route if you plan on doing the swap in the future. No sense on spending $$$$ on the Cobb stg2 if you can get similiar parts on ebay for much cheaper.
I have... OBX EL header $275 ebay Magnaflow HFC $65 ebay Injen knock-off CAI $81 ebay Agency Power LW Crank Pully $125 Rallitek Stromung D89 Cat-back $600 Boxer4racing Total about $1146 I notice a good increase in power from these mods. I am sure a similiar set up like this can be bought cheaper. Just need to shop around. |

with intake header exhaust stock cat and a pulley i made 144.82 awhp and 156.77 awtq...
When you consider stock rs's make 90-110 these mods will go farther than you think, even as AWD its faster than a stock wrx... now as rwd... even faster |

btw if your goign to spend 2000 on mods then do a swap your crazy, just keep your 2g's and buy a older v4 motor for 1500-2000 and save some money for the labor to install...

From personal experience those mods will add some gains, but not a whole lot.
With a similar set-up as the cobb stage 1(brullen headers, 3" J intake, greddy cat back, and a lighten and undersized crank pulley) my car was doing 15.4 in the 1/4 mile. I found that your better off just investing in a set of cams and leaving everything else stock. With that set-up(JA cams, 3" J intake, and a lighten and undersized crank pulley) i was doing 15.2 in the 1/4 mile. The car felt a lot stronger then the previous set-up. |
