Default 2005 EJ25 short block w/ phase1 DOHC Heads

I love the old subaru. Just blew the head gasket on the puppy. It has 196K on it now.

Looking around and found a 2005 ej25 short block for a good price.

A few questions:
1) Will a 2005 ej25 short block and 1996 ej25 phase1 heads bolt up?

2) I need to know of a good shop to get the heads done. (Austin and Dallas Subaru dealerships both said they would not recomend anyone in the area)

3) What head gasket set to get? Don't want to be re-doing this job in the near future.

Thanks for the info...

should bolt up just fine. perhaps run the ej25d head gaskets, the 4 layer metal guys. if matt would chime in about compression ratios you would have a good idea of the happenings.

you think u warped the heads? there should be a decent amount of machine shops in austin. call MZM in austin and ask what machine shop they recomend. they are decent from what i have heard
