Default Acceleration Problems (possibly header related)

Okay, I just installed a set of equal length headers on my manual transmission 2002 RS. Acceleration is fine except when I slam on the gas. The car revs up but no increase in speed, (it feels likeit's in neutral, then it catches up with itself and accelerates), almost like the transmission is skipping. Is that possible on a manual?? I've been having difficulty with keeping the headers tight from day one and have had to replace a couple bolts. Any thoughts??? Thanks for your help.

Could a serious drop in back pressure cause that? I still doubt that a loose header could cause that significant of a drop anyway. Try lockwashers on the bolts. But my guess is like Xeno's, clutch slip, if its possible put the stock header back on and see if it still happens.

No, even if you put the stock headers back on you are going to get clutch slip. Your clutch is worn out, get it replaced

WOW! the EL header gave you so much extra power you fried your clutch right off the bat!

Sorry I'm in a sarcastic mood tonight, I vote clutch slip, can't wait to get EL headers on my baby

after I swap the motor.

Clutch slip.
It was close to gone before, but a bit of a torque increase from the headers finished it off.

I like (and use) the ACT street organic clutch with a Exedy light flywheel.

Clutch slip?? Never heard of that before, (live and learn), the question i still have is i have no problem shifting , it's just acceleration. Your saying the clutch is on it's way out?

2nd question, you say you have an Exedy flywheel, how much of an increase in hp/tq did you experience on the butt dyno??

How much power are you putting out? How many miles? average about 60k miles is where MOST owners change their clutch. Some are done at 30k miles, some go for like 100k miles depending on driving habits.

I just hit 100k. I want to put a lightened flywheel on, (as long as I'm gonna be in there, might as well have some fun right?? I also want to put a stage 2 clutch in as it is a bit meatier and I never want to have to do another clutch job again. However I'm running into a snag since all the flywheels I keep seeing are for wrx's and sti's. Anybody have a part number??
