Really??? According to what I have read, they are a top-tiered gas station.

OT is "top tier", there is a gas station list somewhere of "top tier" rated gas.

I'm not sure if any of the stations around here do this anymore, but watch out for stations that add ethanol or MTBE during the winter months. It can sometimes make your car run like crap, which can make more emissions, go figure.

Check your tire PSI, colder temp will decrease the psi.

Heavier oil can increase resistance when it's colder.

delete your TGV's

what TGV's? good point on watching tire pressures, im leaning more toward the winterized gas, since i fill up at the costco near me. ...with the crappy milage, im starting to think the 5 cents off per gallon compared to the rest of the area might not be worth it..but again they might get thier 91 from the same distributor...who knows

otherwise, my car is seems to be running great, pulls hard, though i had a scare thinking my turbo blew a few weeks back.

I always get shell because there is one right by my house that is always reasonable.. very good point on the winter smog blend.. I was under the impression that it is a mandate local and possibly fed that all stations in the greater valley must use this " LA" blend due to our brown cloud. DO you think this could have that big of an impact though? When I was just in california.. I did not notice much a difference.. and they have crazy hills, fairly bad traffic and a more aggressive gas thirsty driving style

I always fill up at chevron. I never get anything lower than 21.5 when i drive hard and when i drive easy i get almost 23. The place where you get the gas does make a difference! I used to work at a gas station and know that they octane can vary.

okay so maybe it was all in my head... I just filled up today and I actually got 394 miles on 12 gallons before the light came on.. I have a 05 2.5RS sport package sedan.. 4eat.. exhaust and intake... 6200 miles since my last oil change on regular oil.. and I drive the car considerably harder than normal passing 3K rpms almost all the time often over 4K +... hmmm guess the gas I had was good... If anyone with an STi is feeling broke and slightly jelous of these numbers.. I'll take trade offers.. just PM me - andy

From what I've been told, gas stations get their gas from just a few common suppliers then pour in the additives themselves. So, stations like Costco and Sam's Club, etc. usually don't have the additives in their gas that Chevron and other name brands have.

Maybe JDIS213 can tell us more.

Amoco 93 octane on New York/ Jersey did wonders for my '81 Suby GL. It felt like another cylinder was added on with that gas!

BTW, while other premium gas can be used by a number of different brand gas stations, the Amoco 93 is not shared with any other gas stations other than Amoco. I had a friend who worked at the Amoco plant as one of the technicians who formulated it told me that.
