Pardon me if I'm wrong, but aren't anti-lag systems illegal for street use? I seem to remember something about combustion only being allowed in the actual cylinders and nowhere else on the car. That's why those hot rods with the spark plugs on the end of the tailpipe that shoot fire are outlawed except at car shows: combustion of fuel outside the combustion chamber. Maybe it's different in other states.

How much are good anti-lag kits going for these days? I saw the SWRT USA cars with anti-lag running and it was pretty intriguing. But with how much low-end torque a 2.5 gets I don't think I'll be even looking at such a crazy mod such as this until the car retires to full rally regalia.

RallyNavvie, patr runs an Impreza rally car in the PGT class. I never presumed he'd be trying it out on the street.

That said, I did try it once on my own car, just to figure out how it could be done. I got it working, but haven't posted the information because (a) not that many people have TEC-IIs and (b) I just thought of a better way to do it and want to try it out first (not on the street, on a racetrack) before deciding whether to post the documentation. I most definitely do not run my car in regular street trim with anti-lag enabled.

anti-lag is extremely hard on all parts of your exhaust, including the turbo itself. sure, it's illegal, but running a TEC-II on a street car in the firstplace is also technically a gray area, so that's not the issue. I just cannot see why you'd run it on the street unless you are showing off and have money to burn on replacement turbos, headers, mufflers, and cats.

Experimenting with your frankensteined MY98 Open Class rally car?

ps -- oh yeah, congrats on your latest win! Show them open class boys and girls how it can be done in PGT!
