Subaru Banner noob

Here is a stupid question... but I can't seem to find it anywhere...

Do you mount the accessport somewhere in your car?? Or do you just plug and play with it and disconnect it everytime you are done?

Thanks guys!

I love my sube!!

Just plug it in and disconnect it when you're done with it. No reason to leave it plugged in other than trying to read live boost.

Load your base map and real time map on to the car and then unplug the unit. You can keep it in your glove box for when you need anti-theif or valet maps.

so I'll just shoot flames and run rich... meaning waste more gas... I talked to one guy at cobb tuning and he said that it will cause your injectors to become dirty more often... so if i just have my fuel system cleaned more... will I be ok?? Car seems to ok right now... just a lil sluggish... which is expected... but i love the sound!! I just want to make sure I will be ok besides just running a little rich when I go to stage 2. Thanks guys!

<<<< waiting for people to pick ret030 apart

Members will begin to tell you to search on BOVs and their adverse effects on our Subaru engines. Most people will ask why you would want to sacrifice performance just to have the cool "psshhh" sound. I'd ask the same thing, but of course it's your car so you do whatever you want to it.

Without proper, professional tuning, you will never know whether your BOV is actually hurting or helping your car. To sum up what people will tell you: you don't need one/a BOV actually hinders performance/it's a waste of money/true Subaru enthusiasts know only noobs keep BOVs on their cars.

You will reach a power level where a BOV will not effect your performance. Most people will never reach that level. save your money and put it towards power mods!

Here's the deal though... I already have it... can I get a recirculating kit for it?? That way when I want to hear it... I can take it off... and leave it on for normal driving?

Depends on the brand. Look on the website of whichever brand you have to see if they offer a kit to convert it.

ok heres another question... I have the HKS SSQV... and I bought it brand new... It seems like its taking longer for my turbo to spool up... could it be leaking boost??? Or is that just the effect that I will get from the BOV on my car? I hear that HKS has a pretty good rep and there BOVs are tuned when you get them... do I need to adjust it at all?

You need to find a thread about BOV's.

not it "could be"... it IS...

that's what bovs do.. they don't hold boost worth a damn

the ssq is not recirc/atmos adjustable.

to fix all problems, put the stocker back on... you can't buy anything better for the stock turbo

I've never dona a search on BOV. It seems I don't need to, every thread that I've seen that mentions BOVs says BOV=bad

btw, did you mod your stock BPV? if you want to hold more boost then stock, get an STI BPV or a modded WRX BPV.

Stage 2 is everything you've heard it is.

The part-throttle accel in 4th gear is glorious.
